Capital Region Coalition
Salt Spring Island Community Services participates in, and acts as the host agency for, a coalition of 13 organizations in the Greater Victoria providing early childhood services funded by the federal government.
The coalition has existed since 1994 and includes neighborhood centres, Metis and Aboriginal servicves and a young parents service. The Public Health Agency of Canada provides $ 436,000 annually to the coalition, who divide it among member organizations to provide community- based resources and supports for families with children six and under.
In the case of Salt Spring Island, for example, CAP C funding provides the core resources for Family Place, a family resource program.
