What You can Expect
SSICS follows the Ethical Fundraising and Accountability Code established by the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy.
As a donor you can expect:
- To be informed of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and to be assured the gift is used as intended.
- To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition, including the maintaining of confidentiality if desired.
- To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements, charitable number, list of current board of directors, and any relevant printed materials about our operations.
- To expect relationships to be professional and respectful.
- To ask questions or express concerns and to receive prompt and truthful answers.
- To receive an official receipt for income tax purposes for the amount of the donation. Donors of non-monetary gifts are entitled to an official receipt that reflects fair market value of the gift.
- To understand whether the person soliciting a donation is a volunteer, an employee or a paid fundraiser.
- That the list of donors kept by our organization will not be sold or shared.
SSICS maintains a high standard of financial management. One guiding principle is that of managing resources efficiently - administration and fundraising costs are kept to a minimum. Our practices conform to the standards of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Our annual audited financial statements include fundraising expense and revenue details. |
