With funding provided by the Salt Spring Island Foundation, Salt Spring RCMP, Victim Services provides on-line access to legal education resources via:
- the links on this page to resources
- an access terminal located at the Community Policing office
- provision of legal pamphlets and brochure resources at the Salt Spring Island Public Library
- workshops offered on the courts and criminal justice system.
Legal Resources Online
LawLINK is an online legal information service for low-income British Columbians and the people who help them. LawLINK can connect you to reliable information and tools for resolving legal problems. It provides lists of website links grouped by the type of legal information they offer, with as brief description under each.
The Family Law website will help you resolve family law problems. The site contains the following:
- Family Law A-Z – family law publications, videos, some websites and online self-help materials are listed here by title and by subject.
Online Self-Help Kits – these self-help materials can help you prepare forms and organize your facts so you can present your case more effectively.
Resolving Family Law Problems – links to people and places where you can get more lgal help of information.
The Legal Services Society website contains information about the society and how to apply for legal aid; coverage and eligibility guidelines; and services available from regional centres, local agents and lawyers. This site also features electronic publications about various aspects of the law.
The Electronic Law Library provides more detailed links to reliable legal information sites for the general public. These include statute, court, and government sites, as well as other sites that contain information on topics ranging from Aboriginal law to young offenders.
PovNet is a website for people on welfare, advocates and community groups involved in anti-poverty work. It provides information on and links to resources for a variety of issues affecting the rights of people with low incomes.
